Maginhawa isn’t the only place to look for quirky restaurants. At this day and age, there are a number of restaurants opening with not only great food but boast a very eye-catching and instagram worthy interior as well. We ventured forth to Marikina one of the places here in the metro where you can find unconventional restaurants and food joints such as Caffe Piansa, dubbed as the first jail-themed restaurant in the Philippines.
You will immediately want to take photos inside the restaurant as they have a mugshot corner, electric chair and a mini courtroom as a dining table. All of it was pretty detailed and well planned. The other dining tables were inside a jail cell which was pretty cool.
Their menu also had jail-themed names like Inspired Last Meal Requests and Execution Pasta. Though I do admit it was a little pricey. We ordered their set menu John Wayne Gacy as we deemed it sulit because there’s an appetizer, main course and dessert!
Unlike other restaurants that have great themes yet fail at the taste of their food, Caffe Piansa’s is good! I love their Pork Back Ribs in BBQ sauce and their Strawberry mousse, because it had real strawberries in it.
